Grangeville Border Days

The Grangeville Visitors Center

Points of Interest.

You are invited to visit downtown Grangeville and points of interest.

Grangeville celebrates Border Days, the oldest rodeo in Idaho. This Fourth of July celebration started before 1890 and continues today. It is celebrated over a three-day period with two rodeos during the day and one night rodeo.

The Border Days Rodeo attracts competitive cowboys from all over the Northwest with celebrations of this cultural tradition to include street parades each day, carnival rides, various street and sidewalk games, concession stands, Art in the Park, and street dances. A fun, old-fashioned celebration! More information about Grangeville Border Days is available at www.grangevilleborderdays.org

Grangeville has three additional parks:

Heritage Square with a perpetual ‘manmade' waterfall and sheltered picnic tables placed before a backdrop of a hand painted mural of Idaho County life.

Grangeville Pioneer Park, which has picnic tables, restrooms and a swimming pool (in season).

Lyon's Park has picnic tables, restrooms, children's exercise equipment, baseball diamond, skateboard and basketball courts.

Grangeville is the Idaho County seat and the Courthouse has interesting displays of Idaho Gems and Minerals, Idaho County 4-H Club achievements, and ‘Legacy to Idaho County' Historical Photo Albums.

The Grangeville Public Library has access to computer service and the Internet, which is available to visitors wishing to check their e-mail.

The Bicentennial Historical Museum in Grangeville is open from June through September from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. And during special celebrations and by appointment. The Historical Museum at St. Gertrude in Cottonwood has regular visiting hours and special events during the year.

Miller Hardware is one of the oldest businesses in Idaho County. It was established in 1902 and has been owned and operated by the Urbahn Family for four generations, since 1913. There are several antique items displayed on the walls, also old cash registers, iron stove and other items. It is a combination of old and new merchandise, and a real anchor in the down town area. “If you can't find it come to Miller's.” You can really step back in time when you visit this friendly store.

Ray Holes Western Store welcomes visitors to their leather workshop where they build hand-made saddles and do other leather art. Their saddles have been sold throughout the United States and exported overseas.

Former Fish Creek Lookout Log Cabin was donated in 1961 to Idaho County Historical Society Mining Museum and is now located on East Main Street. The outdoor display contains many original machines and equipment used in early gold mining in Idaho County.

The Nez Perce National Forest Supervisor's Office is located in Grangeville – The Gateway to the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.
